10 Essential Beliefs

10 Essential Beliefs

Essential Beliefs are principle truths from the Scriptures that Reconciliation Ministries is built on.

+ Bible

The Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) is the inspired Word of God, the absolute principle truth without error, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the life force of God, our rule of faith, source of promises to claim and our life is governed by it.
2 Timothy 3:15-17; Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-2; Joshua 1:7-8

+ God the Father, Son & Holy Spirit

The Bible says there is one God consisting of God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each one is a whole person of the Deity. However, each one’s role with mankind is different.
Ephesians 4:4-7; Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:9

God the Father is holy and greater than all. He has complete or unlimited knowledge and is fully aware of everything. He understands and perceives all things and is in full control. He is present everywhere at the same time. He is almighty or infinite in power and authority.
John 14:25-28; Hebrews 4:13; Psalm 95:3; Psalm 115:3; Psalm 139:7-8; Matthew 19:26; Job 26:7-14, 42:2

Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Son of Man. He is Lord and creator of the heavens and earth, and everything in it. He is the messiah—the savior of the world. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived on this earth without sinning, died on the cross for the sins of the whole world, was raised back to life on the third day, ascended to the right hand of the Father and also dwells in the hearts of every Christian. Jesus is the fullness of the Deity in bodily form. God the Father placed all things under His feet and appointed Him head over everything and made the church His body. Jesus Christ will return in all power and glory for His church.
Luke 2; Matthew 1; John 1:1-14; Ephesians 1:15-23; 1 John 2:2; Colossians 2:9-13; Acts 1:9-11; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. He convicts the world of guilt in regard to sin, righteousness and judgement. He brings glory to the Father and to Jesus Christ. He convicts, comforts, leads, fills, teaches and empowers the Christian to be the church.
John 14:16-17; John 16:8; John 16:13-14; John 14:26; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-4

+ Brand New Life in Christ

The Bible says that God’s salvation through faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ provides a brand new life that is: born of God, made holy and blameless in God’s eyes, no longer under condemnation, set free from sin, set free from the control of sin and set free from the penalties of sin.

This brand new life is free to follow Christ’s teaching without restraint; given the righteousness, peace, joy and power of God; a dwelling place for God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit; given everything needed to live a godly life; and empowered to help others experience a brand new life and tell others about the brand new life experience.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21; John 1:12-13; Ephesians 1:3-4; Romans 8:1; Colossians 2:11-13; Romans 6:22-23; Colossians 3:12-13; John 8:12, 30-32; Romans 14:17; 1 Corinthians 4:20; Colossians 2:6-7; John 10:10; Colossians 2:9-10; 2 Peter 1:3-4

+ Water Baptism

The Bible says that every person who has received God’s salvation should be baptized by immersion like Christ. Being baptized does not make a person a believer or “save” them. It shows that they are already a follower of Christ who is acting in obedience to one of Christ’s commands. It also best illustrates the burial and resurrection of Christ and the new life that Christ has given them.
Mark 1:9; Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19; Acts 18:8; Acts 8:38-39; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:4

+ God's Church

The Bible says that God has one church that consists of every person who has received God’s salvation through faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God’s church is to mature spiritually, become true worshipers of God, build godly relationships with one another and make disciples for Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:4-10; Ephesians 4:1-7; Matthew 4:4; John 4:21-24; Matthew 4:10; Matthew 22:37-40; John 13:34-35; 1 John 3:16; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:42; Matthew 28:18-20

+ Five Fold Ministers

The Bible says that Christ gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and some to be teachers to prepare God’s people for works of service. All five are under-shepherds of Jesus Christ who hear from God, communicate God’s truth and show God’s love to individuals in different ways. These Five Fold Ministers also work together to bring unity in the knowledge of the faith and the Son of God. Christians and ministers mature spiritually and experience fullness in Christ. Christians and ministers who are living the full life in Christ expand God’s Kingdom.
Ephesians 4:11-16

+ Kingdom of God

God’s Heavenly Kingdom The Bible says that God’s heavenly kingdom is a real place. God plans for His church to enter His kingdom, a place called heaven, in the hereafter. There will be no more sin, death, pain, sorrow or tears. God’s people will have a new body for their spirit and soul, and God will dwell with them for all eternity.
John 14:1-4; Revelation 21 & 22

Kingdom of God on Earth The Bible says that the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, joy and power. God wants His kingdom to enter His people in the here and now. God wants His righteousness, peace, joy and power to rule the hearts of His children. This gives a Christian a little taste of what heaven is going to be like, and models before the world how the Lord is transforming lives.
Romans 14:17-18; 1 Corinthians 4:20; Luke 17:20-21

+ Mankind & Accountability

The Bible says that God has created all of mankind in His image and likeness with a free will to reflect His righteous standard of living in this world and that every person must give an account for his or her life while here on earth. The Bible also says that every single person (except for Christ) has missed the mark in living the righteous standards that God has established. Because of this mankind is destined to be totally separated from God in a place called hell for all eternity. This means that every person needs to be saved, or rescued, from their fallen destiny. God’s plan of salvation through faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives all of mankind an opportunity to be rescued from their fallen destiny and embrace God’s destiny for their life.
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:9-10, 23; Romans 6:23; Romans 14:4-12; Revelation 20:15; Revelation 21:27

+ Life, Sexuality, Marriage & Family

The Bible says that children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. The Bible also says that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made in His image and likeness. God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment that is made for a lifetime. God has established the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by blood, marriage or by adoption.
Psalm 139:13-16; Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:7, 21-25

+ Satan, Evil Spirits & Hell

The Bible says that Satan is a counterfeiter and the father of lies. His weapon is deception. He wants to be God and have a kingdom of individuals who worship and serve him. We must always remember, Satan is not like God. He cannot be everywhere at all times, he does not know everything and he is not all powerful. However, he is a real adversary of mankind. His objective is to steal, kill and destroy. He roams around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He accuses and condemns God’s people continuously and has ⅓ of the heavenly host, which are called evil spirits, worshiping and serving him.
John 8:42-44; John 10:10; Revelation 12:1-11; 1 Peter 5:8

The Bible says that evil spirits consisted of ⅓ of the heavenly host. Along with Satan, they were cast out of heaven and down to earth. Evil Spirits worship and serve Satan. Their objective is to tempt, condemn, oppress and influence mankind for the adversary. Their ultimate goal is to have mankind, God’s creation, worship and serve Satan. Evil spirits also attach themselves to hurts in a person’s life when he or she does not follow God’s instructions on how to handle those hurts. Disobedience to God’s word opens the door for evil spirits to have influence in a person’s life. This produces bondage in the life of the person.
Revelation 12:1-11; Ephesians 4:26-27

The Bible says that Hell is a real place of total separation from God, total separation from everyone, continuous torture and ongoing anguish for all eternity. God has prepared hell for Satan, evil spirits who follow him and all of mankind who do not choose God’s plan for their life.
2 Peter 2:4; Matthew 5:29; Matthew 10:28; Luke 12:5
