Prophets speak God’s truth into people’s lives; preach the Gospel; prepare God’s people for works of service; help establish a proper foundation for God’s church; bring order to chaos; receive secret counsel from God; give a predictive word, a directive word, or word of judgment; are spokesmen of God; have a negative physical reaction to evil; feel the weight of God’s burden; have an extreme sensitivity to the Holy Spirit; isolate themselves to hear from God; judge words that are spoken; teach God’s word to Christians; help start new churches or ministries; and develop other prophets.
